Massage Frequently Asked Questions-FAQ'S

Do I need to have an injury or specific pain to get a massage?

No. Regular massage treatments are a great way to maintain proper muscular and lymphatic function. In addition, your massage therapist may be able to help you identify potential issues before they become a conscious, painful problem.

Does massage hurt?

Your therapist is trained in many different techniques and will adjust the amount of pressure applied according to your particular goals and level of comfort.

Can I get a massage when I am pregnant?

Yes. Expectant mothers can benefit greatly from a therapeutic massage. Often the massage is done in side-lying position as your comfort throughout the session is very important.

Is Registered Massage Therapy covered by insurance?

Most private health insurance plans cover massage therapy. Some insurance plans insist that the client obtain a prescription from their medical doctor before beginning massage therapy. Check with your insurance provider to determine their specific rules.

Do I have a choice between a male or female therapist?

Yes, we have both female and male therapists.

Do I have to take off all of my clothes?

No. You can remove your clothing to your comfort level, making sure the area of injury is accessible. You will be draped with a sheet and your therapist will only expose that area which is being worked upon at any given time.

Is it okay if I don't want certain areas of my body massaged?

Yes, as with all care provided in our office the client is in full control of everything that happens to them. At the start of your first massage the therapist will go over your case history and any areas of concern. This is the perfect time to make the therapist aware of your comfort level and goals for the treatment.
